est1930

My sister and I have always talked about opening an etsy shop together. A few months back it became a reality with est1930. Our Grandma Trudy was our crafting legacy. She taught us to knit, sew, cross-stitch, cook, bake, etc. When we were at her house, we were always creating. Born in 1930, she is the inspiration for our store's name. We just wish she were still with us to receive the honor. We are slowly but surely (I have 2 kids 2 and under, and my sister teaches language arts at a performing arts middle school) stocking the store with goodies. Please visit, look around, and let us know if you have any special requests!

More Projects

I cleaned out my closet a few months ago and set aside some shirts that were made of cute fabric. I figured I'd use it for something. Last night I was inspired and in the mood to create, so I turned two shirts into new things for Hannah. First, a dress. The other one is a new pair of incomplete pajamas that I'll post when I'm finished. I love the way they turned out!
I've had tons of orders lately, and I just wrapped up the last of them. I'm actually taking the summer off to try to work on building up an inventory using the fabric I already have. I have several things that I've seen and have been wanting to recreate. I'll make sure to post when I'm finished and have new things in the shop.
Here's the last order of coffee cozies completed, packaged, and ready to ship.

Busy, Busy, Busy

First, some news:
If, by any chance, you are reading this today (Friday, January 16th), then you still have time to join me. My sister told me about a great way to be of encouragement to a family in need. You can read their story here and find directions on how you can contribute here. I am an aspiring scrapbooker with little actual skill, so I did what I do better - quilt. I hope it's appropriate, but I made an 8 1/2 by 11 prayer quilt to be added to the binder. Please take a minute to send something if you feel so led.

Next, I'm very excited to have been contacted by an awesome website that wants to feature my coffee cozies! I do not have any details yet, so I'll wait on sharing anything more, but check back as I'll post as soon as I know anything.

Gosh, my needles have been flying lately. I thought I'd share what I've been up to as business has been booming. I still have a way to go before I finish all my projects on order, but here's where I've been.

Etsy Update

I'll be back very soon with some craft ideas for the holidays (and a recipe or two). But I wanted to share an update on my Etsy store. I had a bunch of tag blankets listed on my site, but I was contacted by the Taggies company. They not only hold a trademark on their name, but they have a patent on their blankets. I had no idea. I had to take all of my tag blankets off Etsy. I feel very strongly about following the rules, but I also feel like my blankets are very different from the Taggies you find in the stores.
  • My blankets are made with solid-colored anti-pill polar fleece, minky fur, or dotted fur fabric depending on your choice. Taggies are made from patterned polar fleece such as white with yellow ducks or primary-colored squares. I have yet to find a color combination I like that they make.
  • My ribbons are a variety of textures from silky to grosgrain to lace and ric rac. Taggies are made with satin ribbon only.
  • All of my blankets are personalized with the baby's first initial. Taggies does not offer this option.
I just wanted anyone who is interested to know why my listings are gone from Etsy. But I'd be happy to take your order personally if you'd like. They are $25 each and include everything listed above. Shipping is $5, but I will waive the shipping on orders of two or more. See you soon!
